In May 1992 brothers, Chocky and Subbiah Moodley, opened the doors to a great new venture – the reconditioning of metal and plastic drums. With its creation, Peninsula Drums made history by becoming the first black-owned drum manufacturing company.
Once the brothers had the reconditioning of tight-head and open-top drums under their belt, they began to manufacture new drums and have since then expanded the Peninsula Drums catalogue to include IBCs.
Over the years we’ve developed excellent relationships with our clients who come from a variety of industries which include the major fruit concentrate, fruit juice, fruit pulp, edible oil and wine industries, as well as the petrochemical and paint industries of South Africa. Many of these loyal clients have been with us for over 20 years – truly a testament to our excellent standards and superior quality. Our rigorous quality procedures coupled with our SABS (South African Bureau of Standards) certification ensure that this superior quality is maintained at all times.
In 2012, as a means to keep abreast of our clients’ requirements and specifications, a state-of-the-art conical line was installed. This feat has allowed us to remain at the forefront of the South African drum industry and has indeed reiterated our commitment to placing our clients’ interests above all else.
With the 2014 introduction of the new Galvanised Line, we have once again expanded our capabilities to create a wider range of products for our clients.
As a founding member of the South African Industrial Container Reconditioners Association, we have embraced the call for responsible environmental management in the industrial container arena. Our tagline says it all – Recycle for a better Future®.
After more than 20 years, hundreds of happy clients and thousands of drums, we are excited to continue growing, building client relationships and of course supplying superior quality drums!
